For Faculty Eyes Only: Teaching Naked

Get Dr. José Bowen’s amazingly popular book Teaching Naked from Twin Cities Library. Teaching Naked: Flipping the Classroom, is the theme for 2014’s Faculty Development 6-month Teaching and Learning Series.

Faculty - Register Now!
Saturday, April 26th 9:00-12:00

Teaching and Learning Series Description: This year’s faculty development 6-month series focuses on Dr. José Bowen’s amazingly popular book Teaching Naked. Bowen’s book discusses how to maximize learning by restructuring our courses so students have first exposure to content through digital technology outside class, reserving precious in-class time for application and interaction (i.e., flipping the classroom).  The idea is to deepen understanding and promote critical thinking through continual engagement with course content and concepts.

All attendees of the teaching and learning series kickoff will receive a FREE COPY of  Teaching Naked: How Moving Technology Out of Your College Classroom Will Improve Student Learning by Dr. José Bowen (2012).

Check out Twin Cities Library's other resources on flipping the classroom, too!

Last Week of Art on Park Centennial Exhibition Part 1

The start of October marks the end of Twin Cities Library's Art on Park Centennial Exhibition. Come by the library before the end of this week to enjoy the diverse selection of artistic works by talented SMU alumni, staff, and students one last time!

And wonderful news! Because of the overwhelmingly positive response to Art on Park's call for artists, a second Centennial Exhibition will open soon, showcasing additional works by talented SMU alumni, staff, and students! Wahoo! The second show will start in November. Watch our website and blog for more details.

From the whole SMU community (and especially from the librarians) to the artists - we LOVE your work and have enjoyed it immensely for the past six months. And we're looking forward to the next show!

New Art on Park Artist!

Art on Park: June 2012
Saint Mary's University has the privilege of hosting the work of Jonathan McFadden, an emerging artist whose provocative work has been exhibited throughout the United States. McFadden's collection, Adversarial Collaboration, will be shown in this June's Art on Park exhibit and will highlight his use of printmaking media and digital applications to design intricate maps of the global landscape and recent environmental phenomena.
Please join us in the Library to meet the artist at our opening reception on June 13 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. We changed the format of the Art on Park receptions, so there will not be a formal talk. Simply drop-in for cake and punch anytime that works for you.
